EXPANDED ‘CARNIVAL TOWEL CREATIONS’ BOOK OFFERS INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAKING POPULAR STATEROOM TOWEL ANIMALS
How-To Book Features Designs for More than 80 Different Creations
MIAMI (October 1, 2007) – Carnival Cruise Lines has issued a new book offering step-by-step instructions and photos for creating the line’s wildly popular “towel animals” that greet guests when they arrive in their “Fun Ship” staterooms each evening.
Entitled “Carnival Towel Creations with Freddy” featuring the line’s fun-loving mascot “Fun Ship” Freddy, the new book offers easy-to-follow directions and diagrams for creating more than 80 different creatures, including new variations such as a snail, bat, cow, stingray and goat.
The new 90-page book expands upon Carnival’s original towel creations book published two years ago which featured instructions for 40 animals and sold 100,000 copies.
“‘Towel animals’ are a signature element of a Carnival cruise and this new book provides guests an opportunity to relive their ‘Fun Ship’ cruise each time they create these whimsical creatures at home,” said Vicki Freed, Carnival’s senior vice president of sales and marketing.
It is estimated that each year Carnival stateroom stewards create nine million towel animals which are featured within the line’s more than 25,000 staterooms fleetwide. Stateroom stewards also often incorporate guests’ sunglasses, hats and other accessories to create custom-designed towel animals for guests’ enjoyment and amusement.
Miniature “towel pal” plush toys of several popular creations are available in the line’s gift shops fleetwide or on-line at www.carnivaltowelpals.com.
Towel animals are just one of the many personal touches that adorn Carnival’s staterooms, which also include plush terrycloth robes, in-cabin amenity kits with brand-name products, and the Carnival Comfort Bed sleep system with comfortable mattresses, luxurious duvets and high quality linens and pillows.
“Carnival Towel Creations with Freddy” is sold in the Formalities gift shops throughout the line’s 22-vessel fleet. The cost is $14.95.
Carnival Cruise Lines is the largest and most popular cruise line in the world, with 22 "Fun Ships" operating voyages ranging from three to 18 days in length to The Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, New England, Canada, Bermuda, Europe and the Greek Isles.
The line currently has three new ships on order – the 113,300-ton Carnival Splendor, set to debut in Europe July 13, 2008; and the 130,000-ton Carnival Dream and Carnival Magic, scheduled for delivery in October 2009 and June 2011, respectively.
