This past Sunday, the Port of Galveston welcomed the 130,000-Carnival Magic to its new year-round homeport with a traditional maritime plaque exchange, and a little oversized Texas fun.

The ship’s arrival was commemorated with a special reception on board attended by dozens of dignitaries, VIPs and media. During the presentation, Galveston Port Director Steve Cernak (pictured at left) presented Carnival Magic Captain Giovanni Cutugno with a traditional cowboy hat.

The Carnival Magic departed yesterday on its inaugural cruise from Galveston. The ship will operate year-round seven-day western Caribbean and Bahamas/Florida cruises.
