This past weekend, Carnival Splendor kicked off its new year-round schedule from New York with an eight-day cruise to the Bahamas and Florida, becoming the newest and largest “Fun Ship” ever to sail from the Big Apple.
The 3,006-passenger Carnival Splendor represents a 41 percent capacity increase on this itinerary which was previously operated by the 2,124-passenger Carnival Miracle, which is being deployed to the West Coast to operate the line’s Alaska, Hawaii and Mexican Riviera cruise programs

Carnival Splendor, which entered service in 2008, offers a variety of on-board facilities and features, including a 21,000-square-foot Cloud 9 Spa – among the largest at sea - that includes a thalossotherapy pool, an elaborate thermal suite, and 17 private treatment rooms. Other features include a poolside 270-square-foot LED screen displaying news, concerts, and nightly Dive-In Movies, along with a reservations-only steakhouse, expansive play areas for children in three age groups, 22 lounges, bars and nightspots, and four swimming pools – one with a corkscrew water slide.
