Episode five in a series of videos documenting the transformation of Carnival Destiny into Carnival Sunshine highlights the completion of the demolition phase of the dry dock and focuses on the initial build-out of the ship’s many exciting dining, bar and entertainment innovations.

The video showcases the new Sunshine Atrium which is being completely renovated with a stylish new décor as well as the Serenity adults-only retreat that will span three decks and feature a pool, waterfall, colorful oversized umbrellas, and more.  Construction of the Serenity area is so complex that it involves positioning pre-fabricated decks onto the ship via crane.  Other spaces such as Ocean Plaza, a stunning café and live entertainment venue, along with top-deck watering holes like the RedFrog Rum Bar are also beginning to take shape.

More than 3,000 shipboard employees and contractors are working 24/7 to complete the unprecedented $155 million renovation, which is part of the line’s groundbreaking Fun Ship 2.0 product enhancement initiative.

Carnival Sunshine is set to debut May 5 with a summer schedule of nine- and 12-day Mediterranean voyages from Barcelona and Venice followed by a trans-Atlantic crossing from Barcelona to New Orleans, positioning the vessel for year-round seven-day Caribbean cruises from the Big Easy this fall.
