Continuing Carnival Cruise Line’s support of its homeport communities, kids from the Doolin Maritime Career Camp in Galveston visited the Carnival Triumph last week while the ship was docked at the Port of Galveston.
An initiative of the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce and funded by donations from community businesses and individuals who sponsored each child’s participation, the camp provides young mariners with valuable insight into the maritime industry through a variety of hands-on activities and experiences.
Coordinated in partnership with the Port of Galveston, the tour of the Carnival Triumph provided campers with a first-hand look at the vessel’s operations. Kids also had the opportunity to ask questions of the Carnival Triumph’s personnel and enjoyed lunch at the ship’s poolside restaurant.
The visit to the Carnival Triumph was just one of several activities hosted during the week-long camp, which also included tours of local maritime industry businesses, various maritime museums and organizations, port facilities and the United States Coast Guard base in Galveston.
