In conjunction with Carnival Cruise Line’s ongoing support of its port of call communities, the line partnered with the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) for its annual Holiday Gift Project, now in its 22nd year. Together, the two organizations supplied 1,200 gifts to underprivileged children throughout Caribbean ports including Cozumel, Costa Maya, Amber Cove, St. Maarten and Nassau.
Carnival’s shipboard teams welcomed hundreds of children on board, spreading holiday cheer through entertaining shows, visits from Santa Claus, ‘snowfalls’ in the atrium, and lunch at the Lido restaurants before surprising the children with shiny, new toys and gifts.
“It is such a special feeling to provide toys to children who are so deserving but probably would not receive holiday gifts otherwise,” said Debbie Perdomo, Carnival’s youth operations coordinator who organizes efforts on behalf of the cruise line. “We visit these ports day after day, especially during the holiday season, so it is our pleasure to do our part and give back to those who need. We are proud to be involved in such a wonderful tradition.”
“I am so grateful to Carnival Cruise Line for helping us bring this grand vision to life each year,” added Terri Cannici, FCCA’s vice president of operations. “Seeing the sheer excitement and smiles on these children’s faces is absolutely infectious and the best way to kick off the holidays.”
