CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES’ BOOTH AT CRUISE3SIXTY TRADE SHOW OFFERS UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE ON COMPANY’S 35TH ANNIVERSARY
MIAMI (March 29, 2007) – In a unique celebration of its 35th anniversary, Carnival Cruise Lines has created a special booth at the upcoming cruise3sixty travel trade show that utilizes archival photos to document the line’s rise from a struggling, one-ship operation to the world’s largest and most popular cruise line.
Cruise3sixty runs from March 30 – April 1, 2007, at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Located at Booth F, the installation was created especially for cruise3sixty and offers a historical perspective of Carnival’s humble beginnings in 1972 through the present day.
The booth highlights Carnival’s “early days” through oversized images of the line’s first ship, the TSS Mardi Gras, as well as historical photos of the company executives, including Carnival’s founder, the late Ted Arison, and the company’s President and CEO Bob Dickinson, along with early collateral pieces and marketing materials. Other shots include archival images of shipboard entertainment options and various Carnival naming ceremonies over the years.
“Since cruise3sixty is one of the industry’s premier travel agent trade shows, we wanted to take this unique opportunity to celebrate this historic milestone for our company. The custom-designed booth is a veritable museum to cruising history and uses rarely-seen archival photos and images to take travel agents on an informative and entertaining journey over Carnival’s ‘35 Years of Fun,’” Dickinson said.
The booth will be staffed by Carnival sales representatives who will be on hand to answer agents’ questions about the “Fun Ship” vacation experience. A number of 35th anniversary commemorative items will be available, as well.
Additionally, Carnival’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Vicki Freed and Vice President of Sales Maurice Zarmati will share their expertise with travel agents with informal chats at the booth on Friday, March 30, from 1:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.
Information on Freed’s new travel-agent-oriented Web blog, vickilovestravelagents.com, offering selling and closing tips, product updates and other features, will also be provided.
The line’s lovable mascot, “Fun Ship” Freddy, will make an appearance and will be available for complimentary photo sessions.
Carnival is the most popular cruise line in the world with 22 "Fun Ships" operating three- to 16-day voyages to the Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexican Riviera, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, New England, Bermuda, Europe and the Greek Isles.
The line currently has three new ships on order – the 112,000-ton Carnival Splendor, scheduled to enter service in July 2008; and the 130,000-ton Carnival Dream and Carnival Magic – to be the largest "Fun Ships" ever constructed – scheduled for delivery in October 2009 and June 2011, respectively.
