The 3,006-passenger Carnival Splendor made its first-ever call at Grenada earlier this week and to commemorate the occasion, the ship’s officers held a traditional maritime plaque exchange with island officials.

Carnival Splendor visited Grenada as part of an eight-day Caribbean cruise that departed San Juan on Saturday and arrives in Miami this Sunday.

During the ceremony, Carnival Splendor Captain Candeloro Donato, Cruise Director Malcolm Burn and Hotel Director Nickos Batistatos accepted a plaque from Senator Hon. Brenda Hood, Grenada’s acting minister of tourism– one of several plaque exchanges that took place that day.

While in Grenada, Carnival Splendor guests had an opportunity to explore this tropical 133-square-mile island paradise which boasts a lush landscape of rugged mountains, waterfalls and gorgeous beaches, including Grand Anse Beach in the capital of St. George.
