In conjunction with International Dance Day, Carnival Cruise Line is kicking off a new way to raise money for a good cause — debuting a fun online version of its popular shipboard dance activity, Groove For St. Jude, where fans can dance and raise money for the line’s long-term charitable partner, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®.

Carnival is challenging people across the country to donate, perform and share their own new Groove for St. Jude dance move on their social media channels.

For every person who uploads a video of themselves on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or Carnival’s donation page https://choose.fun/stjude, Carnival will make a $2 donation to St. Jude, up to $20,000.

After watching and learning the new dance on Carnival’s social media channels, fans can pick their favorite music track, upload a video of themselves performing the dance using the hashtag #GrooveForStJude and then tag a friend and challenge them to do their own Groove for St. Jude. Fans can also tag @StJude and @Carnival Instagram or @CarnivalCruise on Twitter.

Videos are being accepted now through Friday, May 3. Consumers can also visit https://choose.fun/stjude to make a personal donation.

Carnival has been a partner of St. Jude since 2010 and over the past nine years has raised more than $17 million in the fight against childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases through a variety of events both on board and ashore including the Groove for St. Jude fundraiser held on every Carnival sailing that allows guests to make donations in exchange for a T-shirt, wristband and other fun prizes. As the Official Celebration Partner for St. Jude, the cruise line also holds a variety of activities and events for kids and their families at the hospital throughout the year.

St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent when the hospital opened in 1962 to more than 80 percent today.
