The Cuban-themed Havana Bar & Pool Areas – featured aboard Carnival Cruise Line’s three Vista-class ships, as well as Carnival Sunshine – have been honored as the Top Public Space in the inaugural Cruise Ship Interiors Awards. Selected by a panel of leading maritime interior design experts, the awards recognize cruise lines and designers for their excellence and innovation in the industry. Additional details on the awards are available here.
Introduced aboard Carnival Sunshine and expanded on Carnival Vista, Carnival Horizon and Carnival Panorama, the Havana Bar & Pool Areas were created by Carnival’s in-house team and evoke the spirit of the historic Cuban capital with distinctive design elements that include artwork of famous landmarks, colorful hues and ornate iron and tile work. Guests can enjoy classic Cuban cocktails as well as nightly live Latin music and dancing.
Colorful design touches are carried into the outdoor area which overlooks the aft portion of the ship providing guests with magnificent panoramic sea views as they relax in the pool or covered whirlpools. Surrounding the bar and pool area are tropics-inspired staterooms and suites featuring open-air patios, swing chairs and rainforest showers, all enhancing the vibrant interior design.
“The Havana Bar & Pool Area is one of the most popular spots on board – often among the first to sell out – and to be recognized with this award is a wonderful validation of our efforts,” said Ben Clement, senior vice president of new builds, refurbishment and innovation for Carnival Cruise Line. “We have a talented interior design team here at Carnival and they are constantly coming up with unique spaces for our guests to enjoy so this award is a tribute to their creativity, innovation and dedication to their craft.”
